Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. And I'm pretty sure this was due to the massive amount of posts and comments in many weblogs.

Lordi being nominated for Finland was a sensation which roared through large parts of the blogosphere. And a few days before the actual contest, you could have read some more.

Lordi's performance (YouTube) wasn't really bad. But I wouldn't have chosen such a song to introduce "innocent" (hehe) people to hardrock or metal. There are much better bands and songs compared to the mediocre and quick-and-dirty written "Hard Rock Hallelujah".

By the way: Compare this to 1965. France Gall - Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son (YouTube)
